Sisterhood in Healthcare

Sisterhood in Healthcare

It all started with two Sistahgirlfriends who met at college in South Orange, NJ.  We quickly learned that we were both nursing students who loved to have a great time.  Throughout our journey of friendship we have lived as roommates, women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, frontline healthcare professionals of NYC, and as a support system for each other during life's hardships.  Our friendship has helped maintain our health.  We act as each other's accountability mirrors, holding each other to the fire and making sure that we follow through with our goals.  We are the listening ears that hold on to the stories of navigating healthcare as black women.  As it turns out, good friendships are great for health.  According to the Mayo Clinic (2021) strong social support systems promote a reduced risk of high blood pressure, depression, and obesity.

As we continue on our journey of womanhood, we aim to highlight the significance of healthy friendships, healthy girls, and healthy women. Do you have a Sistahgirlfriend Network?
